Baroque in the Bush

Baroque is 18 years old this year, and what a journey it’s been!  This is a weekend of Baroque concerts at Shingwedzi in the Kruger National Park, with the 16-piece orchestra under the direction of South Africa’s favourite maestro, Dr Richard Cock.

Even though the hutted accommodation is invariably fully booked a year in advance, there’s no need to despair if you’re keen to attend – it’s worth putting your name onto the waiting list, as there are always cancellations (you can contact Kim on kim@montybrett.com to be waitlisted).

If you enjoy camping and you have a tent and other equipment, there are 65 campsites and usually no more than 20 sites are occupied, so there’s always plenty of space.  Monty prefers to camp as he can hear all the night sounds.

Shingwedzi is the ideal camp for this event – it accommodates the optimal number of people, and has a large thatched veranda which serves as our concert hall, with a beautiful view across the Shingwedzi River bed.

September is one of the best times of the year in the Park – the days are warm enough to encourage you into the pool, the evenings are beautiful, the trees are in full bud, and sometimes we're lucky enough to get a rainstorm. This is a unique event in an amazing setting - a wonderful way to experience the beauty of the African bush.

Venue: Shingwedzi Camp, Kruger National Park. Details and directions will be sent to you on receipt of your payment.
