Baroque in the Bush is 23 years old this year – a sublime weekend of Baroque concerts at Shingwedzi in the Kruger Park, with 16 musicians under the direction of South Africa’s favourite maestro Dr Richard Cock.
Even though the hutted accommodation is already fully booked, we do get cancellations, so it’s worth putting your name onto the waiting list. Contact Kim on firstname.lastname@example.org to be wait-listed.
Otherwise, what about camping? Maybe time to bring your tent and camp gear out of mothballs. There’s always masses of space in the campsite. (Monty always camps so he can hear the animals at night.)
Shingwedzi is the perfect venue – it acommodates the optimal number of people, and has a large thatched veranda which serves as our concert hall, looking out over the Shingwedzi River bed.
September is sublime in the Park – the days are warm enough for an afternoon laze by the pool, the evenings are crisp and star-studded, the trees are budding, and sometimes we’re lucky enough to get a rainstorm. All in all, a unique way to experience the beauty of the African bush.
